The Newport Ocean Racing Association, hosts of annual Newport to Ensenada Yacht International Race, proudly confirmed this week that the Los Angeles Times will be a three-year presenting sponsor for the illustrious, historical race. N2E is not only a sailboat race; it has through the years become an epic event for the sailing community and local residents.

As sponsors, The Times will distribute more than 45,000 race programs to its Orange County subscribers and will support official and affiliate sponsors with promotional opportunities in The Times, Daily Pilot, Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot and Huntington Beach Independent. The race program provides a history of the storied competition, details about race-related events and some of the incredible volunteers that work year-round to produce a fun and exciting race. Information about the NOSA’s Ensenada partners that so welcome participants yearly is also included.

NOSA also announces Sterling BMW, Hotel California Tequila, the Balboa Bay Resort and Hornblower Yachts as Official Sponsors.

Sterling BMW is the sponsor of the Boat Owners VIP Reception, Wednesday, April 22 at 6p.m, hosted by the beautiful Balboa Bay Resort, the city’s only waterfront hotel. Hornblower Yachts will provide an on-the-water venue for visiting dignitaries.

Stella Artois will provide beer at all NOSA events, starting in the beer garden of the second annual Balboa Village Fest at the Balboa Fun Zone April 19. Returning sponsor Ullman Sails will provide each skipper a custom keepsake gear bag and its sailing experts will speak at the annual Yachtsmen luncheon to offer last minute tips about winning the race and taking care of sails after a breezy run.

In the Ullman sail bag will be the annual N2E hats courtesy of Hotel California Tequila, along with a bottle of their signature libation, a box of KIND Healthy Snack Bars and thanks to Farmers and Merchants Bank, a case of bottled water. The bank is also hosting the annual volunteer appreciation party before the race. NOSA board members joked that skippers should bring their dock dolly to the packet pick up or they’ll be making a couple of trips to their cars. “Our goal is to see that racers have a good time,” said Commodore Dave Shockley.

New sponsors Gladstone’s of Long Beach will help winner’s celebrate in style with gift certificates of up to $100 for boat owners who trophy in their class.

NOSA is also grateful for the continuing support of The City of Newport Beach, West Marine, Baja Tourism Board, Vessel Assist, Ruby’s Diner, High-Times Cellars, the Sea Base, ExplorOcean, Sailing Anarchy, artist Gary Miltimore, the Marriott Newport Beach Hotel and Spa and the Hotel Coral and Marina in Ensenada.

Racing starts off the Balboa Pier, Friday, April 24 from 11a.m. to 12p.m.
