Nacra 17 Europeans Championship - A Good start in Dervio (Lake Como)

At Tuesday August 20th the first Nacra 17 Europeans started at Lake Como with 44 teams from 17 countries. The event is hosted by Centro Vela Dervio. During this week from Tuesday-Friday 12 races are scheduled. At Saturday August 24th the medal race will be sailed with the top-10. The other teams will sail their last fleet race also at Saturday.

With12 mixed-teams Italy has the biggest fleet of participants.But also France, Spain, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Austria, Suisse, Russian and Bulgaria are good represented with two or more teams. Most top-sailors in ISAF ranking and during the Worlds are participating this European Championship. The new Nacra 17 Class is growing very fast. Within nine months circa 200 boats are now sailing in 27 countries world wide .


In difficult wind conditions (wind was coming from the North and shifty) at Tuesday three races could be sailed during the first racing day. The top-three after the first racing day are first Mandy Mulder and Coen de Koning (NED), second Matias Bulher and Nathalie Brugger (SUI) and third Francois Morvan and Marie Riou (FRA).
