Nacra 17 Europeans - Exciting races in Dervio (Lake Como)

At Tuesday August 20th the first Nacra 17 Europeans started at Lake Como with 44 teams from 17 countries. The event is hosted by Centro Vela Dervio. During this week from Tuesday-Friday 12 races are scheduled.

At Saturday August 24th the medal race will be sailed with the top-10. The other teams will sail their last fleet race also at Saturday.

During all past sailing days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) three very good races per day could be sailed in excellent sailing conditions. The sailors are very happy with the sailing conditions at Lake Como. After nine races sailed the top 10 is very exciting. After nine races the Austrian team Thomas Zajac and Tanja Frank is leading with 37 points. Second are The Suisse team Matias Buhler and Nathalie Brugger with 42 points and third are the French team Moana Valreaux and Manon Audinet with 42 points.

Yesterday the Dutch team Mandy Mulder and Coen de Koning seemed to be in leading position after nine races, but they have lost a protest in the ninth race. After this DSQ they lowered in position to place eight.

Today (Friday) also three races are scheduled. But the weather forecast for today is not good with showers and a lot of wind. Hopefully it will be possible to sail some races in the afternoon. With 10 races sailed a second discard will be used, which will make some changes in the overall results.

At Saturday the medal race is scheduled for the top-10. And a final fleet races for all other sailors.

Follow the event with the results and images at Nacra 17 class website and Centroveladervio website
