Musto gets behind 2010 Etchells mid-winters

by Tracey Porter on 19 Jan 2010
Musto: Has been announced as naming rights sponsor of the Musto Etchells Australasian Winter Championships 2010. SW
Marine apparel brand Musto has thrown its weight behind the most popular event on the sail racing calendar by signing on as the lead sponsor of the Etchells Australasian Winter Championships (EAWC) 2010. The agreement sees Musto afforded full event naming rights as well as the opportunity to host its own race day as part of the fun-filled race schedule.

The announcement marks the third year in a row Musto has sponsored the Mooloolaba-based race event, which this yer takes place over The Queen's Birthday Weekend June 10 to 13.

As with previous years Musto has been awarded the exclusive rights to dress EAWC 2010 competitors and organisers while the brand also intends launching a licensed merchandise collection to coincide with the event's racing progam.

The range, to be sold both on site and through the associated website, www.mooetchells.yachting.org.au, will feature long sleeve T-shirts, polos and caps and is expected to go on sale prior to the event launch.

Musto will also host a fashion parade showing off new season collections at the mid-way stage of the event.
Attracting a top class fleet of more than 50 Etchells one design boats annually, the championship sees only the best Australian and New Zealand sailors compete across the seven race series.

This event is the largest on the annual Etchells calender proving something of a draw card to big names such as Skip Lissiman, Rob Brown and Grant Wharington, previous winners include America's Cup, Olympic class, Sydney-Hobart race winners and class world champions.

Musto managing director Duncan Curnow said Musto had a proud history of supporting Australian sailors and sailing events - having assisted from the grassroots of the sport through to national and international representatives.

'The Etchells audience is also our audience and we couldn't think of a better way event in which to align ourselves,' he said.
