The Melbourne to Launceston race line honours win goes to Ninety Seven.
Ninety Seven crossed the finish line at Low Head at 11:55:35, this morning.
Crew were ecstatic and on their way further up the Tamar River to the marina at Beauty Point. The Navigator onboard, Neville Rose said, 'Despite fairly unpleasant conditions and eight of our thirteen crew having their head in the bucket at some stage, we've come away with the win. Just sensational.
'We even got to have the asymmetric spinnaker up for the last 20 minutes to finish of in style, doing 12 knots over the line.'
The elapsed time of 23:25:35, means they are well past the record pace required (19 hours, 55 minutes and 43 seconds).
Well done crew - especially to those that stood the test for the whole journey.
11 yachts are yet to complete the race.
