Matt Coutts wins 2013 Finn Nationals at Takapuna
|
Matt Coutts has won the 2013 Finn NZ National Championships held at Takapuna, by a five point margin. Second overall was double Olympic representative in the Laser class, Andrew Murdoch, who has stepped up to the Heavyweight Mens Singlehander. He tied on points with Josh Junior, who won Sail Auckland last week. Fourth overall was World OK Dinghy Champion, Karl Purdie. Coutts won five of the nine races sailed, including a four win string in the middle of the series. In contrast to Sail Auckland last week, the regatta was contested in light to moderate winds. A 17 strong fleet covering sailors not long out of the Youth classes to Great Grand Masters sailed in the regatta. Takapuna will be lodging a bid to host the 2015 Finn Gold Cup (World Championships).
