by Harry Fisher on 17 Feb 2013
The 'Secret Men's Business' boys in front of the Port Lincoln Yacht Club - Lexus Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race Janine Kemp
Lexus Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race 2013 was totally owned by Geoff Boettcher and his crew as their boat Secret Men's Business followed their line honours victory with PHS (Overall Handicap), Division 1 IRC, and Overall IRC crowns.

Boettcher and his crew sailed a 'strategically sound' race and after taking the line honours victory in difficult conditions have also come away with a 'clean sweep' in all aspects of the overall results.

There were several different categories within the race that were competed for and all of them provided some great competition.

The multihull champion was won by Royal SA Yacht Squadron boat Hasta La Vista skippered by Geoff Kneebone who had a convincing win against other multihull competitors and The cruising division champion was won by School's Out skippered by Adrian Wotton.

The first Sydney 38 was Shining Sea of the Cruising Yacht Club of SA who also performed very well on IRC and the first Port Lincoln boat overall was 'Fresh' skippered by David Buckland.

The clubs team trophy which is represented by the best four boats of a single club on PHS went to the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia who had first, second, fourth, and fifth on PHS. These four boats were Secret Men's Business (first), Shining Sea (second), Asylum (fourth) and Rapid 1 (fifth).

The PHS (Overall Handicap) results were extremely close with not a lot separating the competitors. third Place went to Sandringham Yacht Club boat Mille Sabords skippered by Stephanie Howarth, second place was won by Shining Sea of the Cruising Yacht Club of SA and the overall PHS champion was Secret Men's Business skippered by Geoff Boettcher.

The IRC Division 1 category was fought for between many strong competitors and on corrected time there was less than a couple of hours between second and fifth with the exception of Secret Men's Business who obtained a dominating victory.

The top three Div 1 IRC results were as followed. Two True of the Cruising Yacht Club of SA skippered by Andrew Saies came in third, Scarlet Runner of the Sandringham Yacht Club skippered by Robert Date clinched second place and the overall victory went to Secret Men's Business of the Cruising Yacht Club of SA skippered by Geoff Boettcher.

IRC Division 2 wasn't as closely decided with third place going to Port Lincoln boat Sextant skippered by Jonathan Newbury, second place was won by Laurelle of the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria skippered by Ray Borrett and a dominating victory in Division 2 went to Lucette of the Royal SA Yacht Squadron skippered by Chris Pratt.

In the overall IRC results, third place went to Division 2 boat Lucette skippered by Chris Pratt, second place went to Scarlet Runner skippered by Robert Date and the overall IRC champion was once again Secret Men's Business skippered by Geoff Boettcher.

As the teams recover from the grueling race, they look forward to the Lexus Lincoln Week Regatta which will be held between Monday 18th of February and Thursday 21st of February in Boston Bay. The Port Lincoln Yacht Club has always run an excellent regatta for Lincoln Week and this year should be no Lexus Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race 2013
