Le Maxi80 Prince de Bretagne, royal sur ses terres!

Ils l'avaient promis, ils l'ont fait ! A bord du seul Ultime et du plus récent multicoque engagé sur la Route des Princes, Lionel Lemonchois et son équipage ont relevé leur pari avec brio pour laisser la flotte des trimarans monotypes dans leurs tableaux arrières. C'est donc de la plus belle manière que les hommes du dernier né des coursiers océaniques mettent un terme à la quatrième étape partie hier de Plymouth, et un point final au grand tour des côtes européennes.

Une épreuve en quatre manches offshore, au cours de laquelle il n'a eu de cesse de monter en puissance, et d'affirmer le potentiel de vitesse du bateau face à des équipages déjà particulièrement bien affûtés. Le Maxi80 premier devant le MOD70 sur les eaux de la baie de Morlaix et sur ses terres, voilà un succès qui ne manque ni d'éclat, ni de panache!

Un final en apothéose en plein coeur des festivités d'Entre Terre & Mer! C'est le cadeau offert à domicile, au public venu nombreux sur le nouveau port du Bloscon à Roscoff, par l'équipage du trimaran qui incarne les liens unissant les marins et les paysans d'un même territoire. Sur la ligne d'arrivée, si la victoire d'étape revient à FenêtréA Cardinal (Erwan Leroux) chez les Multi50, et à Groupe Edmond de Rothschild (Sébastien Josse) dans le camp des MOD70, le team aux couleurs des producteurs bretons, pointé à 16h 24 mn et 29 sec sur la ligne, décroche, lui, tous les honneurs à l'issue d'un dernier run à haute valeur symbolique sur le parcours à travers la Manche, semé de pièges et d'embûches dans les petits airs qui ont dominé depuis le départ de Plymouth.

Parti à 21 heures hier, le Maxi80 avait pris les devants dès le lever du jour pour ensuite pointer en tête à la marque de la Roche Gautier, au large des côtes de granit rose des producteurs de ce territoire (Union des Coopératives de Paimpol et Treguier). Quelques heures plus tard, après les arrivées des premiers Multi50 engagés sur un parcours plus court pour tenir compte des conditions de vents légers, Lionel Lemonchois et ses hommes n'ont pas démérité pour contenir le retour en force des MOD70 avec la marée. Il s'adjuge ainsi la primeur de la ligne sur les eaux de la baie de Morlaix, où paradait flottille de bateaux de tous types de tous âges réunis dans le cadre de la parade d'Entre Terre & Mer.

Lionel Lemonchois : 'C'est super, nous terminons sur une bonne note en finissant devant les MOD 70. Cela fait trois semaines que nous leur courons après, donc forcément, c'est une belle satisfaction! Nous avons appris plein de choses sur le bateau, à faire corps avec lui, à sentir cette machine, à en appréhender ses points forts, ses points faibles. Et finir comme ça sur les terres de Prince de Bretagne, c'est le plus beau cadeau que nous pouvions faire aux producteurs bretons. On s'est bien arraché pour que ça se fasse.

C'était une étape de brouillard complet. Quand nous avons passé Wolf Rock, on devinait à peine la lumière du phare, on ne voyait rien d'autre. Nous n'avons pas pris un très bon départ, mais en vitesse pure, nous avons pu doubler les autres bateaux et les garder derrière en les marquant. Une belle dernière étape pour finir en beauté cette course qui nous a permis de régater au plus au niveau tout en allant à la rencontre des autres lors des escales européennes. Cette Route des Princes, c'était exceptionnel… A refaire !'

Matthieu Souben : 'Pour une première, cette Route des Princes, c'est un peu le coup d'essai comme un coup de maître. Tant au niveau de l'organisation que de l'ambiance, nous avons passé un mois super. Sur l'eau, les régates ont toutes été âprement disputées, la formule marche, on s'est vraiment régalé. Vivement la prochaine !'

Gurvan Bontemps : 'Des belles étapes, des chouettes villes, une bonne organisation avec beaucoup de convivialité à l'image de l'accueil que le public nous réserve ici, c'est sympa !'

François Denis (Bambino) : 'Content d'arriver premier ici à Roscoff au terme de la dernière manche. Cela fait plaisir à Prince de Bretagne, et nous, on s'est fait plaisir depuis le début, c'est parfait!'

Alex Pella : 'J'ai eu la chance de naviguer sur un super bateau aux côtés d'un équipage très performant. J'ai appris plein de choses tout au long de la course. Je suis très content de la manière dont se finit la course pour Lionel et toute l'équipe. Nous avons eu quelques soucis techniques au début, parce que c'est un nouveau bateau. Mais nous savions qu'il pouvait gagner face aux MOD, nous sommes ravis de le montrer.'

Jean-Baptiste Levaillant : 'Cette dernière étape à bord de Prince de Bretagne, cela m'a bien plu. Un tour de l'Europe en équipage, cela fait du bien, c'est toujours une belle course d'apprentissage pour le bateau et son skipper. Ils sont sur la bonne voie de l'optimisation.'
