Kiwis slip on Day 4, Holland Regatta

by Sail-World NZL on 28 May 2006 The Kiwi sailors all slipped down the points table in their respective classes on the fourth day of the Holland Regatta.

Four of the crews, Andrew Murdoch (Laser), Jo Aleh (Laser Radial) Dan Slater (Finn), and Hamish Pepper/David Chiles (Star) are in the top ten overall in their respective classes and will sail on the final Medal Race day tomorrow Sunday night, NZT).

Of the other crews in the regatta, Stephen and Philip Keen in the Mnes 470 were the unluckiest, finishing in 11th place overall and just missing the cut for the Medal race by just one place. This is their best performance in Europe, certainly this year, and represents a good gain on their part.

Conditions for the regatta, except for the first day have been very light with big windshifts, which has had a significant impact on the outcome of the racing. The light conditions have been made more difficult by the cold air temapertures which have yet to go above 10 degrees.

Australian Tom Slingsby has tied up the Mens Laser class without having to sail in the Medal Race, which counts for double points.
