Adrian Seiffert, and if that name sounds familiar you have plenty of company, for Adrian is the boat auction ‘king' of South East Queensland and he's back in action this weekend. He's set to raise the hammer to successful bidders with more than 50 vessels on sale at the Runaway Bay Marina.
Adrian Seiffert, of course, is the driving force and CEO of Brisbane-headquartered Marine Auctions, and to date he has successfully sold all manner of craft up and down the eastern seaboard, from Brisbane down to Melbourne.
Rivergate, on the Brisbane waterfront, and the Runaway Bay Marina, on the Gold Coast, are two of his favourite venues for auctions and it will be ‘all go' tomorrow (Saturday, September 11) when Adrian goes to work on behalf of owners wishing to unload their boats.
As usual, Marine Auctions will be placing some ‘delectable' craft under the hammer. The lots include a superb Sea Ray 525, that could attract bids in the region of $750,000-plus and a mint condition Mustang 41 flying bridge cruiser expected to sell for anywhere from $450,000 to $500,000.
If the previous Runaway Bay auction can be taken as a guide, a strong turnout of hopeful buyers can be expected. However, the auction may not appeal to sailboat fans. 'Very little available as far as sail goes, 'Adrian said, 'The vast majority of lots comprise powerboats.'
It's a safe bet that many who attend the auction will simply be on the hunt for a bargain. 'Recent auctions have seen boats with very little use go for prices way below their retail figure, so bargain hunters just may find something they simply cannot resist,' he said.
Adrian will be assisted at the auction by prominent Gold Coast boating identity Bill Fankhauser, who is responsible for the Marine Auctions office at the Runaway Bay Marina.
Scheduled to commence at 10am, the auction is more than simply boats; three marina berths at the Meridien Marina complex at Jacobs Well will be offered, together with surf skis, inflatables, boat trailers and personal watercraft.
There's even a two-person paddle boat on the list and there's nothing more economical to run than that! 'Say it however you like, we'll have something here to suit all applications and all budgets,' Adrian added.
