Atlantic being fitted out in la Rochelle, July 2010 Pierre Alain Varreon
Pierre Alain Varreon presents more images of Atlantic schooner, the three masted replica of the 1905 Atlantic record holder with Charlie Barr.
The record lasted for 75 years until 1980 when Eric Tabarly crushed it with Paul Ricard the foiled trimaran.
She was built of steel, no hydraulics, and just 10 crew to handle 1720m2 of sails and a 69 m long hull, and was constructed in Holland by Van der Graaf, and is in La Rochelle for finishing. She will sail on 8 or 10 of this July.
And if you are in awe of the magnificent paintwork on Atlantic, it was applied by a team led by well known New Zealand sailor, Tony Smith.
