New Zealand's Andy Maloney leads the Mens Singlehander (Laser) fleet after four races, with two race wins. He sits just one point ahead of reigning World Champion Tom Slingsby.

Dan Slater was the other highlight of the day with a win in the first race of the day in the Mens Heavyweight Singlehander (Finn) class. In the Mens HP Skiff (49er) Peter Burling and Blair Tuke also won their first race.

In the Laser, 2012 Olympic representative, Andrew Murdoch, is equal on points with the third placed competitor, and two points off the lead, after winning the first race of the day. The top seven boats are just five points apart. NZL's Sam Meech currently sits in seventh place, five points off the lead, and not by any means out of striking distance of the top few.

In the Mens Heavyweight Singlehander (Finn), Dan Slater is on pace and is currently in third place overall. His win in the first race of today helped his case, as he now has a five point buffer on top of Australia’s Brendan Casey in fourth. A second New Zealand sailor, Matt Coutts lies in 14th place overall after two days of racing. Coutts is still dragging a no score from the opening day, and will move up the points table when this is allowed to be discarded later in the series.

The Mens HP Skiff (49er) had to make up on lost ground from yesterday’s lost races due to extreme winds, and sailed four races today. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke won the first race, however dropped down the fleet after scoring 4,7 and 19 in the remaining races. They lie in 11th place in overall standings with four races sailed, and no discard allowed at this stage.

Natalia Kosinska sailing in the Womens Windsurfer (RS:X) sailed two additional races finishing 10th and 8th overall and all is placed 8th overall after four races in the 40 strong fleet.

Tomorrow after one more race the Finn, Lasers, 49er and RS:X will drop their worst score, and this may see the NZL Sailing Team members progress up the leader board.

The Women’s Match Racing (Elliott 7) crew of Stephanie Hazard, Jenna Hansen and Susannah Pyatt are half way through the first round robin, today sailing seven matches. They are both carrying a one point penalty for being involved in a collision that caused damage during Flight 11 Match 2. The New Zealand crew, Koru Match, have two wins, four losses and one point deducted, with eight matches remaining.

The Semaine Olympique Francaise, or simply Hyères as it is commonly known, is one of the major regattas in the International Olympic Sailing Circuit and is the fourth of seven regattas in the 2011-12 ISAF Sailing World Cup series.

Racing started in France on Sunday April 22nd, and runs for six days with medal races and prize-giving planned for Friday April 27th.

New Zealand’s top crews in the Mens and Womens 470, Laser Radial and Star are not competing at this event. All of these crews will be racing at their class World Championships in May.
