World Sailing announces Athletes' Commission
Five sailors have been elected to World Sailing's Athletes' Commission following a vote by sailors' competing at the Rio
Jo Aleh (NZL), Sofia Bekatorou (GRE), Maayan Davidovich (ISR), Juan Ignacio Maegli (GUA) and Vasiliij Zbogar (SLO) join existing members Sarah Gosling (GBR) as well as Lijia Xu (CHN) and Yann Rocherieux (FRA).

Strong Southerly winds, gusting to more than 30-knots, made 18ft Skiff officials think long and hard before making a decision on whether to conduct the Alf Beashel Memorial Trophy race on Sydney Harbour on Sunday. Finally, with only two boats making it to the start line, the race got under way when Nick Daly’s Peroni crossed the line in Athol Bay, west of Bradleys Head.

13 U.S. sailors named to 2016 Youth World Championship Team
US Sailing has named 13 athletes to its 2016 Youth Sailing World Championship Team.
US Sailing has named 13 athletes to its 2016 Youth Sailing World Championship Team. The premier youth event in international sailing, the Youth Worlds is expected to include competitors from over 70 nations. The event is set to be held in Auckland, New Zealand from December 14-20.

Michael Chittenden was out on the water for the Major A. Frizelle Trophy - the second race of the 18ft skiff 2016-17 season. Sailed in in a healthy breeze, officials tried starting the fleet in the Storm Rig configuration, but even that was too much for most competitors. A few hardy souls made it to the start line and then had a sail before the race was abandoned.

Sailors will always remember him as the monarch who designed, built, and sailed his own dinghies, and who won a gold medal for sailing at the fourth South-East Asia Peninsula Games in 1967. In 1966 the King sailed an OK dinghy, the Vega, across the Gulf of Thailand from Hua Hin to Sattahip, and later presented the boat’s rudder as a trophy; the Vega Rudder Race remains an annual event.

Star Sailors League Finals – Legend Robert Scheidt back in Nassau
With three Olympic gold medals and 14 world titles Robert Scheidt is one of the best athletes ever produced by Brazil.
Having come fourth in the Laser class at the Rio Olympics, Robert will join the Star Sailors League in Nassau, after winning the first edition in 2013 with his fellow Brazilian Bruno Prada. It will be a happy return to the Star class, where Robert won two Olympic medals and three world championships.
