Helly Hansen (HH), one of the world’s leading sailing apparel and footwear brands, last week announced that the brand has signed on to be the Major Sponsor of the prestigious Sydney Harbour Regatta at Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC).

In 2011 Helly Hansen became the exclusive apparel partner to MHYC. 'The new partnership has been well received by Club Members and we are looking forward to now welcoming Helly Hansen as a Major Sponsor for the Sydney Harbour Regatta' stated Alana Whitting, Marketing, PR & Sponsorship Manager for MHYC.

The Sydney Harbour Regatta is the largest Keelboat regatta in Australia, attracting over 300 of Australia’s finest yachts and crew, and offers spectators the chance to view some great racing and 2012 will be no exception.

Running over two days on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of March, a large fleet is again anticipated across all Divisions and Classes, and with some excellent prizes on offer from Helly Hansen this year, it’s an ideal opportunity to get involved with this iconic event.

But it’s not only the racing that attracts a crowd. The event offers a great weekend of activities for families and friends with live music and festivities on the foreshore including a fashion show to view the latest HH sportswear collections, and the chance to win some great HH prizes.

General Manager of Helly Hansen, Craig Ryan, is also enthusiastic about HH’s involvement with the regatta, 'We are very excited to come on board as the Major Sponsor for this fantastic event. One of our main aims at Helly Hansen has been to grow our involvement within the Australian sailing community and through our partnerships with various sailing clubs in Sydney and Melbourne; we are establishing a reputation amongst all sailors as providers of true quality sailing apparel for all inshore and offshore activities.'

About Helly Hansen

Founded in Moss, Norway, in 1877 and originally created by Captain Helly Juell Hansen; a sea captain from Norway, the Helly Hansen brand was created on the foundations of providing quality protective apparel to protect you from the elements. The brand was first recognised for its achievements in waterproof material for sailors and sailing enthusiasts who were tired of getting wet and cold. This eventually moved into other outdoor areas where protection from the elements is a matter of survival.

Today, Helly Hansen continues to protect and enable professionals making their living on oceans and mountains around the world. Their apparel, developed through a blend of Scandinavian design and insights drawn from living in some of the harshest environments on earth, helps provide the confidence professionals need to step out into these elements.
