After the huge success of the 2012 Push the Boat Out Day ahead of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the RYA is delighted to announce that ‘Push the Boat Out’ is back for 2013 - and this time for a whole weekend!

The RYA ‘Push the Boat Out Weekender’ will take place over the weekend of 18-19 May and will see clubs, centres and marinas across the country opening their doors to their local communities and hosting a ‘Push the Boat Out’ event. From open days and ‘have a go’ sessions, to treasure hunts and fun regattas, there will be events for all to enjoy.

'We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and spectacle of last year’s ‘Push the Boat Out’ Day', said Jon White, RYA Sport Development Manager.

'Everyone who got involved commented how much fun they had taking part and running their events. It was great for clubs to show their local communities what they have to offer and to tie in with a national event.

'With such overwhelmingly positive feedback, we simply had to do it again. This national event is the perfect opportunity for clubs to hold ‘have a go’ sessions and to enable people of all ages and abilities to experience why sailing is such a fantastic sport' Jon concluded.

With so many people being inspired by the London 2012 Games, the ‘Push the Boat Out Weekender’ will encourage people to get down to their local sailing venue, have a go themselves and find out just how easy it is to get involved. It’s also a great opportunity for regular sailors to get out on the water and to show their support for the sport and the event.

Look out for more information coming soon.
