Gogreenblue photo competition winners revealed

Following the success of the first ever regatta wide ‘Green Blue Day’ at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week on 02 August, The Green Blue is delighted to reveal the winners of the #gogreenblue photo competition which ran throughout the regatta (02-09 August).

Up for grabs were some amazing prizes including a luxury ski holiday in Banff, Canada courtesy of Crystal Ski Holidays worth nearly £4,000 for the first prize winner, tickets to the 2015 FA Cup Final provided by Sportsworld for second place. Two RagBags folding stools made from sailcloth, a sailcloth wine carrier and four bottles of wine for the third place winner and last and by no means least, a Ben Ainslie Hoody and water bottle provided by BAR for fourth.

Entrants had to simply tweet or Instagram a ‘green’ snap using #GoGreenBlue to enter; if it was ‘green’, it was in!

Picked from over 50 entries we can reveal the winners are:

First place – Natasha Jackson from Windsor, Berkshire, for her colourful image of the XOD class at the AAM Cowes Week 2014. Natasha said of her win 'Thank you so much for announcing me as the winner of the go green blue competition at Cowes week! I love skiing so this is the best prize ever!'

Second place – Jenni Van Wijk from Southsea, Hampshire for her snap of ‘learning the green blue ropes’! Jenni commented: 'That's wonderful news!! Thank you so much - it's my 40th birthday the week before the Final so that'll be a lovely addition to my celebrations! Now I just need Portsmouth to get into the final!!'



Third place - Rose Tabberer from Maker, Cornwall, for her environmentally friendly green washing blowing on the line. 'Thank you SO much, I'm absolutely thrilled!' commented Rose.



Fourth place – Dianne Stanford from Shevington, Wigan, who submitted via Instagram, a great image of a jellyfish in a sea of green. Dianne commented: 'This is fab news. Thanks so much. I'll always cold so the fleece hoody will be just the thing for me.'



Jane Swan, Green Blue Project Manager commented 'This year’s AAM Cowes Week was a great platform to promote sustainable boating and really get people thinking about changes they can make and be ‘greener’ with their boating.

'Having a dedicated ‘Green Blue Day’ and the #gogreenblue photo competition have really helped raise awareness of the work we do.

'We’d like to thank Crystal Ski Holidays, Sportsworld and Ben Ainslie Racing for providing such great prizes, Cowes Week Ltd and Sunsail for helping to publicise the competition and of course we’d like to thank everyone who submitted an entry with such a wide range of creative images. It was a difficult decision but in the end these four really caught our eye! Congratulations to all of them!'

The Green Blue is the joint environment initiative created by the British Marine Federation and Royal Yachting Association to encourage a more sustainable recreational boating sector. Launched in 2005 at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, the project enjoys the support of The Crown Estate’s Marine Stewardship Programme and the Environment Agency.
