Gill signs on as naming rights sponsor to Melges 24 World Championship

With entries pouring in from around the World, the forthcoming Melges 24 World Championship received an extra boost recently with the signing on of leading technical sailing clothing brand, Gill as the naming rights sponsor for the World Championship set to be held at Geelong Victoria in January 2014.

Paul Schultz, Director of Gill Australia said ' We are delighted to be involved with the 2014 Melges 24 Worlds in Geelong and the opportunity to partner with the Melges 24 class for this championship is a perfect alignment for our brand given the growth we have achieved in the performance keelboat segment over the past 24 months'.

Gill will be launching the new 2014 Gill Race Collection at the World Championship and will also be producing an exciting regatta apparel range which will be available on site during the regatta.

Teams from eight nations and four continents have already confirmed their attendance in Geelong meaning that this championship could be one of the best editions seen in recent years. The overseas entries to date include Bruce Ayres from California, Flavio Favini and the Blu Moon crew from Switzerland, Tetsuya Matsunaga and the ThreeBond team from Japan, Andrea Racchelli and Riccardo Simoneschi from Italy, Germany's Bent Dietrich, Canada's Zarko Draganic and Thomas Hacklin from Finland.

Melges class legend, Harry Melges has also confirmed he will be there and Brian Porter's team are hoping to defend their world title against a stack of Australian boats eagerly awaiting this first worlds Down Gill Marine Melges 24 website
