December 21. 2009 was a big day for New Zealand’s biggest private coastal land developer.
With the opening of two new stages; one at Marsden Cove and the other at Pauanui Waterways, Hopper Developments have released around $180 Million worth of new residential coastal property onto the New Zealand market.
Despite the recent downturn, Hoppers with its in house construction company has been busy completing further stages at these two locations. Pauanui Waterways on the Coromandel Peninsula was the company’s first canal housing project. It was launched almost 20 years ago.
Marsden Cove near Whangarei is Hoppers most recent coastal project. In recent months Hoppers have been receiving a healthy level of enquiry across the board which are good indications of confidence returning to the coastal property market.
The canal lifestyle provided by Hoppers has no competition and tends to be regarded separately from the general coastal property market.
The company has taken a rather innovative approach to marketing its projects by creating events which draw large crowds. The Hopper projects are becoming destinations in their own rights.
Largest non commercial lock in Australasia opens at Marsden Cove
The much awaited opening of the lock at Marsden Cove Marina is scheduled to take place at 4:30pm on New Year’s Eve with a number of large boats passing through the lock.
The opening will form part of the New Year celebrations which includes a free concert on the water within the marina.
The 20m x 6m lock is the largest of its kind in Australasia and cost around $4M to build. Hopper Construction researched lock designs around the world before creating a tailor made design in collaboration with engineering firm Airey Consultants Ltd. Components such as lock gates with remote activation, plus motors and mechanisms were imported from leading suppliers abroad.
Stage two of the Marsden Cove village will now be available with access to a further 80 residential sites.
Final stage of Pauanui Waterways now open
Stage 3 of Pauanui Waterways was opened on December 21 with the removal of the bund dam. This final stage includes innovative proposals such as an apartment complex with a boutique marina and floating restaurant, boat launching ramp and beach. It has been branded 'The Hammerhead' Just inside the entrance to Stage 3, Hoppers have plans to develop a boutique marina and villa complex with its own private beach. It has been branded 'The Quays'.
However, the bulk of new product released is sections for private residences. Details are available on www.coastalnz.co.nz/pauanui-waterways.aspx
