Farr 40 to an Opti, the Women’s Challenge, a challenge for all sizes

The Women's Challenge was sailed over two days and attracted a record 55 entries. On Saturday, racing took place for the Access 303, Lasers and Optimist. Sunday racing was for the yachts.

Saturday saw Vanessa Dudley take out first in the Laser class followed by Diane Siddingh second and Veronique-Morgan Smith third.


Jackie Morgan in an Access 303 and Evie Saunders in an Optimist were joint winners of the one design trophy. Helene Francois second and Jacinta Gale third in the Access 303 with Emily Priddle second and Tilly Martyn third in the Optimist.

Sunday promised to be light but competitors were pleasantly surprised by a constant 10 to 15 knot north easterly. Thirty seven yachts from seven NSW clubs, comprised of three classes and five divisions lined up for the gun in Manly Cove.
