At the F18 Worlds on Friday July 12, Team Boskalis riders Mitch and Jordi Booth (ESP) took bronze in Grosseto/Italy. The final day of this year's World Championship was full of drama and the top six fought it out till the very last race. Light conditions challenged the competitors, especially the heavy teams. Frenchmen Billy Besson and Jeremie Lagarrigue won the title, followed by the Englishmen Styles/Mason.

'Although it was a light day, it was good racing,' commented Mitch Booth. 'The game was still open, it was exciting. There was plenty of drama with some of the favourites falling to the wrong side. Some were not happy with their Black Flag, packed up and went home.'

This morning, father and son Booth were in sixth position with a podium finish in sight. They managed to close the gap. Booth has climbed that stage before with three consecutive F18 World titles, but never with his son. 'It feels good, it is another step of bringing him to the top of high level racing', said Booth, while packing up their Boskalis Nacra Infusion. 'Jordi leaves at 3am to the ISAF Youth Worlds, so we are busy.'

A smile appears on his face: 'It is also nice to beat Taylor [Booth].' Taylor Booth and Mischa de Munck, also part of Team Boskalis, commenced today in ninth position, but struggled with the light breeze. 'They didn't have a good last day, as they are a bit heavy. But the battle has been great this week. Sometimes we rounded the top mark in second and third position.'

Dutchmen Jolbert van Dijk and Niels Kleijweg, the youngsters of Team Boskalis, had a difficult start of the competition. They fought back and finished 25th as third youth team, after having started on place 75. Team Boskalis F18 Worlds website
