An exclusive use aquatic licence has been granted by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) for the safe staging of a swimming race on Wallis Lake this Sunday (28 Apr).
RMS Maritime Principal Manager North Sonia McKay said boaters should keep clear of Wallis Lake near Leon, Myles and Sandy islands in the Breckenridge Channel from 6.30am to 11.30am.
'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the Island to Island Run and Swim,' Ms McKay said.
'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed for the event and there will be swimmers in the water.
Ms McKay said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
