Boaters are advised to keep clear of an area on the Hastings River this Sunday 20 October as Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of an Ironman event.
The exclusive use area applies on the Hastings River from the town wharf at Port Macquarie to Settlement Point from 6:00am to 8.30am.
This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the Ironman race by USM Events Pty Ltd.
For safety reasons the area will be patrolled by control vessels and marked by buoys.
Skippers not involved in event should not enter the area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds boaters a lifejacket must be carried for each person on board all vessels, unless exempt. It must be the correct size for the wearer and in good working condition.
