The race record in the Rolex Sydney Hobart would still appear to be under threat 48 hours from the start The race record in the Rolex Sydney Hobart would still appear to be under threat 48 hours from the start of the 630nm offshore classic. Using the routing function of wind and weather prediction application, Predictwind, the latest model run by Sail-World, shows that in an extreme situation over 12 hours could be slashed off the record of 1day 18 hrs 23 mins set by Wild Oats XI four years ago.

Three sailors, Jon Bilger, Andrew Brown and Nick Olson sailed and nosedived the new one design singlehander in the fresh SW breeze.

Hurricane Nicole which until a couple of days ago was just another tropical storm, has intensified unexpectedly Hurricane Nicole which until a couple of days ago was just another tropical storm, has intensified unexpectedly as she makes a final approach to Bermuda. The hurricane which has now been upgraded to a Category 4 on a scale of 5 is due to hit Bermuda just after noon, local time.

America's Cup - Cyclone Nicole set to hit Bermuda on Thursday
Nicole, has been upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a category 2 Hurricane and is headed for the America's Cup bases Nicole, has been upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a category 2 Hurricane and is headed for the America's Cup bases in Bermuda. Winds are forecast by the local media to have a sustained strength of 95kts and gusts of over 110kts.
