At the NCYC Forgacs Defence Inner Spring Regatta, held off Newcastle last weekend, the top finishers in both IRC divisions all used Doyle sails.
IRC division 1 winner Anger Management, a Corby 43, and second placed TP52 Frantic used partial Doyle Stratis sail inventories. In IRC division 2, the Reichel/Pugh 36 Spirit won all four races held over the regatta to take the top prize from runner up Anthony Paterson sailing his Beneteau 34.7 Tow Truck. Both these boats have new Doyle Stratis headsails and Doyle spinnakers.
Ian Bower, owner of Spirit since the beginning of this year, commented 'We had a fantastic regatta. This is our first IRC event since purchasing the boat and it could not have gone better for us. The crew, led by tactician Peter McNeill from the Doyle Sails Lake Macquarie loft, did a brilliant job and I look forward to competing in more regattas with these guys. I have ordered more Doyle Stratis sails to replace the gear that came with the boat, so we will get even more speed out of the boat, which is very exciting indeed'.
Peter McNeill added 'Bowza (Ian Bower) and Pato (Anthony Paterson) are close mates, so there was a friendly rivalry between the two boats over the weekend. For Bowza to come out on top at his first regatta as owner/helmsman is very pleasing for the entire Spirit crew.
'We are planning to do more sailing together including Sail Port Stephens and we will definitely be back for this regatta next year which was very well run by the NCYC team including Rear Commodore Paul Gleeson, CEO Richard Howard and PRO Ted Anderson.'
