Deuxième édition de la course au large La Route Rimouski-Anticosti

Organisée par le comité des Défis Georges-Leblanc et la Marina de Rimouski, cette course de 650 milles marins prendra son départ devant le quai de Rimouski pour contourner l’île d’Anticosti dans le sens anti-horaire et ensuite revenir à Rimouski. Il s’agit d’un parcours hauturier qui constitue un défi de taille que sauront relever les skippers d’expérience. La première édition s’était tenue en juillet 2011 avec la participation de 8 voiliers. Cette année, ce sont quatre bateaux de la classe Mini 6.50 m qui se sont inscrit dont un participant provenant des îles Saint-Pierre- et-Miquelon.
Trois bateaux sont déjà arrivés à la marina de Rimouski pour prendre le départ de cette deuxième édition. Le voilier, Pogo Loco, du skipper Philippe Laville qui en sera à sa deuxième participation et le seul de sa classe ayant complété le parcours en 10 jours 1 heure 54 minutes lors de la première édition. Il sera accompagné de sa conjointe Johanne Longpré avec qui il avait obtenu une très bonne position malgré un avarie à un gouvernail lors de la régate Bermuda One-Two en 2011. Le voilier Antidote du skipper Jean-François Poliquin de Québec qui sera accompagné par nul autre que Diane Reid de l’Ontario qui a remporté la régate Bermuda One-Two en 2011. Diane est la première canadienne à s’être qualifiée pour la Mini-Transat 2013 qui relie la France à la Guadeloupe qu’elle effectuera en solo en octobre prochain. Le voilier Benjamin du skipper Guy Hernandiz en sera également à sa deuxième participation mais avait été contraint d’abandonner en 2011. Il sera accompagné par Daniel Després, skipper d’un autre mini qui a dû annuler sa participation en raison du bris de son mât lors d’une régate à Québec.
Le départ de la Route Rimouski-Anticosti est prévu à 14 heures 2 minutes le dimanche 21 juillet prochain. En 2011, Océan-Phénix du bien connu coureur océanique Georges Leblanc avait complété le parcours en 4 jours 8 heures 54 minutes établissant du même coup un record en temps réel tandis que Defiant du skipper Jean Trottier avait remporté la première place en temps compensé selon les handicaps désignés aux voiliers de différentes
