Début des Extreme Sailing Series pour l’équipe Realteam à Singapour

L’équipe suisse de voile Realteam affrontera les meilleurs navigateurs du monde à Singapour dès jeudi pour le premier Act des Extreme Sailing Series 2014, sur un plan d’eau qu’ils connaissent bien puisqu’ils y avaient terminé quatrième l’an dernier. Le catamaran Realstone, fraîchement sorti de son chantier hivernal, arborera fièrement le drapeau Suisse face à onze concurrents de taille.

Au terme des entraînements hivernaux, qui ont eu lieu entre le lac Léman et la Méditerranée, l’équipe a nommé deux barreurs cette saison. 'Etre performant sur les deux circuits - le Vulcain Trophy et les Extreme Sailing Series, c’est énormément de pression pour un seul barreur, d’autant plus que les calendriers sont difficiles à concilier,' confie le skipper Jérôme Clerc. 'C’est donc Arnaud Psarofaghis qui prendra la barre de l’Extreme 40, et je garderai celle du Décision 35. Nous avons des objectifs de résultats sur les deux circuits, et avons la chance d’avoir deux barreurs dans l’équipe. Il fallait en profiter! Arnaud a montré toutes ses capacités et son potentiel à Florianópolis l’an dernier et cet hiver en entraînement ; nous avons toutes les chances de faire un bon résultat à Singapour.'

Arnaud Psarofaghis ne ressent pas de pression particulière à la veille du début de la compétition : 'Barrer l’Extrême 40 était mon objectif depuis que j’y avais goûté à Florianòpolis,' confie le jeune navigateur de 25 ans. C’est une chance de pouvoir affronter les stars qui naviguent sur ce circuit ; nous allons beaucoup apprendre ! Mon objectif personnel à Singapour est de mettre l’équipe en place et de prendre le bateau en main.'

Dans des conditions qui s’annoncent légères comme l’an dernier, Realteam compte sur cette première régate pour se situer face à l’élite. Il n’y a pas de changement d’équipage à signaler par rapport à la saison dernière ; l’équipe à terre quant à elle se renforce. Jeff Kerleguer et Sébastien Stephant se chargent de la préparation du catamaran Realstone alors que Tanguy Leglatin, le coach Realteam pour le Décision 35, remplace exceptionnellement leur coach d’Extreme 40, Etienne David, ce week-end.

JP Morgan BAR (Ben Ainslie) had a collision from behind which damaged their rudders / tiller arm and had to be replaced between races... Realteam hit them from behing and JP Morgan BAR missed three races while it was replaced.
