SLAM Combined High School Championships - Sailors have just one week to get their entries in the Australian premier schools racing event of 2013.

Over 120 boats have already entered the event which will feature some of NSW’s most talented youth sailors joined by sailors from visiting States (QLD and ACT) to battle it out between Tuesday 16th April and Saturday 20th April.

The young sailors will not only test their racing skills against top competition but will also have the chance to be crowned 2013 Australian Schools Champion.

Rod Carter, Aust. All schools Sailing Convenor, commented: 'The 2013 event looks like it will once again be a fantastic turn out and a great showcase for our sport.’

Race organisers are expecting a last minute flood of entries in the championship. Entries so far include a range of classes from Sabots, Lasers, F11, Cherubs, 29ers, 16ft Skiffs, Multihulls, Melges 20 and even a VX One. Entries will be accepted right up until the close of registration on the first day of racing, Tuesday 16 April.

The format for the regatta has changed this year with an increase in the number of races and also changes to race courses. There are a number of off the water events too, including a welcome BBQ after the first day of racing. Other events include a dinner and Q and A time with guest speakers Liesl Tesch (London Paralympics Gold Medallist) and Karyn Gojnich (Director - Yachting Australia).

The evening will be hosted by Nix from the Radio show Sailing Chix with Nix and will allow competitors to ask questions about the guest’s personal sailing experiences, pathways in sailing and potential career options in the sailing/marine industry. This dinner will be a great opportunity to gain knowledge from experienced people involved in Sailing.

The online entry deadline for the SLAM Combined High Schools Championship 2013 is up until registration on Tuesday 16th April. The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions have now been published.
