Clipper fleet arrive in Jersey

by Helena Broadribb on 25 Jul 2006
With all ten Clippers now moored up in St Helier, the crews are enjoying the summer sunshine in Jersey.

On Saturday, Jersey led Liverpool 08, Uniquely Singapore and Durban into St Helier after finishing Race 11 in 5th place. Greeted by crowds of well wishers and local media, the Jersey crew were elated to return to their home port after over 30,000 miles of ocean racing. Their 5th place in Race 11 gives them a 3-1/2 point lead over Glasgow. The crew of Glasgow arrived at 1315 in bright sunshine and said they had a great race before managing to find every wind hole in the Western Approaches!

On Saturday evening, the crews enjoyed a reception at the Town Hall followed by a picnic at Jersey Zoo. Whilst not enjoying the hospitality of the Channel Islands, the crews are also busy preparing for Race 12 from Jersey to Holyhead which starts at 1815 tomorrow.
