When the 2013 Cleveland Race commences this month at Edgewater Yacht Club, the J/70 Class will be joining the well-known fleets. Sailing legend Dave Ullman is registered to compete, and he will also hold a tune-up clinic on the afternoon of Friday, June 14. The J/70s supplement the many one-design and 'big boat' fleets who have served as the mainstays of this annual regatta.
The 9-day event is divided up as follows:
• One Design Series - June 15-16
• T-10 Lake Erie Championship - June 14-16
• RC Sailboat Regatta - June 17
• Women’s and Doublehanded Regatta - June 18
• Junior Regatta - June 19
• Offshore PHRF and PHRF OD Series - June 20-23
Cleveland Race Week is the largest sailing regatta on Lake Erie and one of the largest on the Great Lakes. The annual event, now in its 33rd year, attracts hundreds of boats from across the Great Lakes and beyond. Nationally, Cleveland Race Week ranks as one of the largest sailing events based on number of sailing classes. Building on that eminence, this year’s CRW Regatta will also play host to the T-10 Lake Erie Championship.
Registration is open for these Classes: Jet 14, Ensigns, J/22, J/24, J/70, J/105, Highlander, Dragon, T-10, Farr 30, PHRF, JAM, Doublehanded PHRF, Doublehanded JAM, Women’s PHRF, Women’s JAM, Women’s Ensign and Remote Control.
