The platform and wingsail for the prototype for the new AC45 is proceeding well at Core Composites - Oracle Racing's building facility in Warkworth, 40 minutes drive north of Auckland. Top photographer, Ivor Wilkins checked out the action earlier this week, and presents these images of the AC45 ahead of their launch next week.

The AC45 is a forerunner to the AC72 design to be used in the 34th America's Cup in San Francisco in September 2013. The AC45 is a one design of which will one or two will be owned by the Challenger and Defender teams and will be sailed in the initial rounds of the America's Cup World Series.
