America's Cup 2013 Day 7 - With the strongest ebb tide of the regatta and the likely strongest winds- the net forecast in AC72 terms was Dogs Off Chains – in relative terms at least.
When wind goes above the mandated wind limit for 30 seconds over a 15 minute period, then the race sequence had to be started again, or if during the racing if the wind goes above the limit for 30 seconds then the race must be abandoned.
At the scheduled start time the tidal outflow was a strong 2.7 knots.
The wind limit for race 1 was 20.3 knots and as the ebb tide increased it was reduced to 20.1 knots.
The 15 minute starting clock displayed aboard Regardless had been reset seven times and the wind was just beginning to cycle up, as it does day after day on San Francisco Bay.
Conditions were not looking promising and as the wind increased to 24 knots America's Cup Regatta Director Iain Murray aboard the committee vessel Regardless advised that the day’s race had been blown off for the day well ahead of the 1440 latest possible start time.
