Action packed end for Open Fleet at Australian Minnow Titles

by Andrew Dubbin on 19 Jan 2013
We all enjoyed the regatta - 32nd Australian Minnow Titles Andrew Dubbin
The last day of the Australian Minnow Titles saw the wind gods deliver some much needed cooling breeze, after a cold change swept across the course area earlier, it left in its wake a testing 15-22kt + breeze. With the remaining three races to be completed, it was another tough day in the classroom!!

The highlight of the day would have been Kieran Shortz from Darwin making a gutsy Port end start in race 9 over the fleet of 61. Coming into race 10 of series, the fleet was down to around 35 with many opting for the shore as the last race was the toughest of the day with a longer course selected to end the series.

Final placings for Open and Junior Open fleets

1st. Open/Senior - Hugo Llewelyn. SSCBC. 27pts
2nd Open/Senior - Laura Harding, BYS. 30pts
3rd Open/Senior - Kieran Schortz. DSC. 38pts

1st Junior Open - Hamish Bolton. BYS
2nd Junior Open - James Hackett BYS
3rd Junior Open - Harry Fox. SYC

Congratulation to all the winners and competitors on a great regatta and to those who travelled from WA,NT and NSW.

The 33rd Australian Minnow Titles will be held in Darwin in July. The regatta shirts this year read the Association's catch cry which is, 'All hail the blue sail'.
