75th Moth Nationals attracting Champions to Wangi

The International Moth Class return to Lake Macquarie in January for the 75 Australian Championship. Wangi will host Australia’s best Moth sailors from Jan 6th, with the support of ZHIK and CST Composites.
A fleet of up to 60 foiling moths are expected including local Olympic 49er heroes Nathan Outteridge and Ian Jensen, as well as NZ 49er Silver medallist Pete Burling, Laser Gold medallist Tom Slingsby, current Moth World Champion Josh McKnight and Australian Champion Rob Gough from Hobart. Boats from NSW, WA, Qld, Vic, Tas and Japan have entered already.
Since starting as a small local class at Inverloch in Victoria in 1932 the moth class has expanded world wide amalgamating with similar classes in other countries, and due to open development rules it has changed from heavy planked scows to featherweight carbon foilers. The class now enjoys the availability of high quality factory produced boats from several suppliers and attracts some of the world’s best dinghy
