2014 Delta Lloyd Regatta - The Delta Lloyd Regatta got underway this morning from the beautiful city of Medemblik, Netherlands. The morning began with a few showers and dull conditions, but opened up nicely as the racing action picked up.
The Canadian contingent got off to a strong start courtesy of Isabella Bertold (RVYC) with a thirteen, four, race day to put her in seventh place overall. 'Interesting race one with many moments I wish I could go back in time and change' says Bertold. Teammate Brenda Bowskill (RCYC) did not get off to the start she had anticipated, suffering a DNC in race one but she followed that up with 20 to end her day in 24th position.
The Canadian men were led in the Laser class by Mathew Ryders' 28, 15, good enough for 21st position. While Alex Heinzemann (RVYC) went 29, 27 for 28th place and Matthew Sherars' 38, 42 placed him in 41st at days end.
The action is scheduled to continue tomorrow morning at 10 am local time, with a thunderstorm warning looming over the Wednesday forecast. Check back for updates and results from the Canadians in action at the 2014 Delta Lloyd Regatta!
