12’ skiffs will be competing in the Lincoln Crowne NSW State titles over the next two weekends. The 12ft skiff is a lightweight open class, two man high performance sailing boat, which has a long tradition on Sydney Harbour and is one of the most spectacular classes on the water.
The series, which has again been sponsored by boutique Corporate Advisory and Mergers and Acquisitions firm Lincoln Crowne & Company, was held at Woollahra Sailing Club on Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24th November; and will finish at Lane Cove and Abbotsford Sailing clubs this weekend.
The NSW State Championships also act as the selection series for the Australian team to compete against New Zealand in the 12’ Skiff Inter-dominion Championship which is to be held in New Zealand in January 2014.
The Lane Cove, Woollahra and Abbotsford clubs are expecting to have up to 25 boats competing and leading the charge for glory will be Interdominion Champion Nick Press sailing the borrowed 'Geotherm' along with previous Interdominion winner Brett Hobson and Brad Phillips in 'Garde' and current national champion Jonathan Temple in 'Lincoln Crowne & Co'.
Among the fleet will be the LCC supported Variety AAAF skiff which is part of an ongoing initiative to raise awareness for the incurable disease Alopecia Areata which sees sufferers lose all hair.
