Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race -Winners to be soon declared

by Southport Yatch Club on 29 Jul 2013
2013 Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race Berth Marina
After nearly two days of slow, tactical racing the Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race is now only hours away from having a winner.

But at this stage we’re not really sure who that will be. Race favourite ‘Wild Thing’ owned by local Grant Wharington has narrowly lead for most of the race but last night the lead changed hands several times between Wild Thing and the other super maxi in the race ‘Lahana.’ The Brisbane boat ‘Black Jack’ is not out of the mix with it only being a few miles behind the two leaders.

With the race winner due to cross the finish line off Main Beach around 1.30 today any of the top three yachts could snatch the narrowest of victories.

Southport Yacht Club will be hosting the finish of the race, visitors are welcome to join at SYC to view these spectacular racing vessels up close.
