Following the announcement of Starwood Hotels & Resorts as the America’s Cup Official Hotel, Starwood-owned St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has been announced as the title sponsor of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s China Coast Regatta from 12-14 October 2012. The China Coast Regatta is a major inshore, three-day, seven-race regatta; considered to be one of the premier events of this type in Asia. The event has twice been awarded the ‘Best Asian Regatta of the Year,’ by two different 'awarding organisations', and will again feature some of Hong Kong's top boats and skippers. China Coast is a regatta that deserves a bigger entry list, but Hong Kong is a long delivery from Thailand or Malaysia, and there's not much else at that end of the China Sea to attract competitive sailing visitors.

'We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the China Coast Regatta,' says Paul James, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. 'Speed and sport have been part of St. Regis’ illustrious heritage since the first hotel opened in 1904 and the founding family, the Astors, became a prominent social fixture in the world of sailing. Today, St. Regis continues to be at the centre of social calendars for a new generation of luxury guests in destinations around the world, including here in Hong Kong.'

'The announcement of St. Regis Hotels & Resorts as the title sponsor of the China Coast Regatta is considered a significant milestone in what is already a well respected event,' said Mark Bovaird, General Manager, Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. 'This partnership is reflective of the continued growth and awareness of the China Coast Regatta as one of the pre-eminent sailing events in this region; an event that can now boast of an association with one of the foremost brands in the luxury hospitality industry. We welcome this corporate partnership between St. Regis Hotels & Resorts and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.'

The China Coast Regatta will also feature an opening party hosted by SKYY Vodka and an exclusive dinner event with PAL ZILERI, the Italian fashion brand.
