SB3 Australian Championship Race start - Skandia Geelong Week 2008 Teri Dodds http://www.teridodds.com
The 2008 SB3 Worlds will be held from 20-26th September in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland

The Brits might have revenged their Ashes cricket drubbing, with Britain’s Leigh McMillan and his UK bowman Chris Kerrison carting Australia’s Brendan Garner off the race course to take the inaugural Vectrix SB3 Australian National title at the 2008 Skandia Geelong Week, but the European sailors have cause for worry now that the SB3 Worlds entry has opened.

In September 2008, Dun Laoghaire in Ireland will be the venue for the inaugural SB3 Worlds. With the event entry capped at 120 competitors, sailors are rushing online to try and get an entry. This is not really surprising when you consider they get 100 entries for Cowes Week.

As well as the onslaught of entries expected from the European sailors, entries are also expected from sailors from the Middle East, USA and Australia who are all keen to show the European sailors just how fast they are.

The first entrant for the worlds was Australian sailor Kai Timm from Queensland. Tiday he said “We are now training hard to ensure we perform at this event”.

Guessing the winner for this event is impossible, but one thing is for sure, it will be the best one design keelboat racing ever seen in Ireland.
