Boutique Italian beer brand, Peroni will host the Welcome Party for the Rolex China Sea Race 2014 at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club on Monday 14 April.

Sailors, sponsors, Members and invited guests will gather on the Main Lawn at the Club to celebrate this blue water classic, which will take the sailors from the start line in Victoria Harbour on 16 April to Subic Bay in the Philippines. The current race record is held by Karl Kwok on the Open 60, Beau Geste in a time of 47 hours, 43 minutes and 07 seconds and was set in the year 2000.

The sailors are currently tying up the loose ends of the Category one Offshore scrutineering process, finalizing their crews and making sure they have satisfied the requirements for practice drills and safety training. In spite of the ever more rigorous safety requirements for offshore racing, this year’s entry list is 34-strong, up from 26 boats in 2012 and exceeding 30 boats for the first time since the millennium edition.

Peroni adds this major offshore yacht race to its sailing pedigree as the brand was also the Official Beer for the 2013 America’s Cup.
