Ramsgate week - Friendly regatta, Cowes alternative
by Royal Temple Yacht Club on 25 May 2013

SW
Ramsgate Week 2013 is the Royal Temple Yacht Club's annual regatta and is widely recognised as the friendly regatta an alternative to Cowes.
You get to meet all the competitors in the newly refurbished club bar, the town is only a five minute walk from your berth and there is now an abundance of bars and restaurants in the town (no you don't need to book threemonths in advance either!).
Ramsgate Week 2013 will accommodate IRC classes zero-three, one design classes and three cruiser classes - two white sails only.
Sailing programme 12th - 17th August 2013
Ramsgate Week is seeking to onwardly develop the successful formula we operated in 2012. We recognise that we must accommodate those that want to have a full weeks holiday and those that can only take a couple of days off. We believe we have created a very special format for 2013 and look forward to welcoming both old and new competitors to our special regatta week.
Competitors are now able to select the races they wish to enter from the menu options below:
IRC Midweek Series – IRC Classes one-three series of four special and coastal races, from Monday to Wednesday. This is a warm up series to the main IRC Series and competitors will be treated to some of the most scenic waters with races extending to Botany Bay, the shingle beaches off Deal.
IRC International Series – IRC Classes zero-three series of four races with one race on Thursday, two on Friday and one on Saturday. This series starts on Thursday with the Round the Goodwins Race. This series is a qualifying event for the Gaetan Janssens International Series.
Class four Multi hull boats with a current MOCRA certificate - Wednesday to Saturday Series of five Races
Class five Unrestricted cruiser class with spinnakers. This is intended for cruiser sailors or racers who may be shorthanded for the week. There are no sail restrictions for this class but a yacht choosing to be rated in this class without spinnakers must remain without spinnakers throughout the entire series. Boats competing in this Class will be issued an RTYC Handicap TCF figure by the Race Committee. Handicaps may be adjusted to maintain the spirit of this class.
Class six Fast cruiser class without spinnakers. This is intended for the less serious racer with non high tech sails and the use of spinnakers is prohibited. Boats competing in this Class will sail a longer course than Class seven and will be issued an RTYC Handicap TCF figure by the Race Committee.
Handicaps may be adjusted to maintain the spirit of this class.
