RYA Olympic Classes Spring Series events for 2011 entries are now open for the first event as the domestic Olympic Classes racing season is set to get underway.

The first of the two-weekend events will be held from 12-13 March at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, and will see racing in the Skud, 470, Finn, 2.4mR, 49er and RS:X 9.5 men and 8.5 Open classes.

The annual early-season Spring Series events provide a focus for new and aspiring talents and regular racers in the Olympic Classes, as well as the top Skandia Team GBR performers where programmes allow.

The second and final event of the Spring Series will take place at Hayling Island Sailing Club from 14-15 May.

'The RYA Olympic Classes Spring Series is a great way to brush off the winter cobwebs against some quality domestic competition, and also continues to form part of the grant and places Qualification Series for international events,' explained Skandia Team GBR Development Squad Manager Barrie Edgington.

Entries are now being accepted online for the WPNSA event at the RYA Racing Events website with a 50% penalty fee payable on entries after 7 March.

The Spring Series Notice of Race can also be found on the in the RYA Olympic Classes Handbook, which is available from the Crew Room section of the Skandia Team GBR website
