The perfect way to kick start the 2009 sailing season was to attend this glorious fundraising event that took place in a stunning indoor marquee at the WPNSA Event Hall. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy hosted the Weymouth Lifeboat Ball, raising £5,867 for the RNLI.

Guests were entertained by one of the best bands in the South-west, Ben Waters and his band; a French-style floor show from the lovelies of PZAZZ; and magicians touring the tables. In addition, two raffles were held: a top of the range raffle with prizes including two pairs of tickets to Mamma Mia in the West End; and a quick fire, speed-booze raffle.

John Tweed, Chief Executive of WPNSA commented ‘The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is honoured to have hosted the such a successful event which raised nearly £6,000 in funds for the RNLI. The RNLI is a fantastic cause and we are glad that we can assist these fundraising efforts through use of our facilities’.

The Weymouth Branch Events Group from the RNLI are thrilled with the support we received for the event from all the sponsors and the generosity of the guests throughout the evening. The group are also pleased with the feedback they have received from attendees saying they thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
