Qingdao – Breeze 14-15 knots Day

by Rob Kothe Sail-World.com on 11 Aug 2008
Day 3 Qingdao - pre-racing Sail-World.com /AUS http://www.sail-world.com
Perfect weather for Day 3 of the 2008 Beijing Olympic regatta being sailed in Qingdao.

There were a few early rain squalls but these have moved offshore. Visibility is now at least 10km.

The Men and Women’s RS: X fleet is assembling now on course A, close to the Harbour sea wall. The 49ers will be aiming to complete three races on course B, and the 470’s two races for both men and women’s fleets on course D and the Finns and Ynglings are on E.

While the wind is expected to drop very quickly before racing starts, 15 minutes ago it was blowing 14-15 knots on the outer courses. Starting speeds of 10 knots are likely.

This morning about 30 fishing boats were working along the tide lines across the course area, removing algae.
