Platus in Pattaya, Thailand. The most competitive OD racing in Asia?

by Kevin Scott on 26 Jan 2011
The Ferret comes in at the pin end. Platu start - Top of the Gulf Regatta 2010. Guy Nowell http://www.guynowell.com
During 2010, Platu racing in Thailand saw an increase in quality and international participation, and all the signs are that 2011 will see this continue.

For our principal events this year we already have promises from the Italian champions, possibly the double World champions, and the Spanish champions. And then add on four Japanese crews, a Turkish crew, some Danes and some Australians too. We are also hoping that our Russian friends will return after a year off. Does anyone know any North or South American Platu crews?!

Charter boats are going to be in big demand this year, so please register your interest as early as you can.

Firm dates for the major regattas are:

Platu Open, 12-14 March with a one day feeder event on the 11th for practicing.
Top of The Gulf, 30 April–3 May. (Practice races if there is demand).
Platu Nationals, 12-14 August with a one day feeder event on the 11th for practicing.
Platu Cup, 8-9 October.
