Ocean Race Around Australia – West Coast rivalry on the cards

Rivalry for the upcoming Ocean Race Around Australia is sure to mount in Western Australia, where the event originates from, when the various regions take up the challenge offered by the race organisers.

Ocean Events and Australia Yacht Club, organisers of the 'Ocean Race Around Australia', have put out a challenge to the development commission of each Western Australia region and the City of Fremantle to enter a boat in 2014 race with banners such as 'Spirit of Fremantle, Spirit of the South West, Spirit of the Great Southern' and more.

Made up of 10 regions from The Kimberley in the north, to the Goldfields in the south, Western Australia’s land area is one quarter of the size of Europe. Each region has stunning natural features and tourist attractions unequaled in the world.

Each region rivals the next as the best part of Western Australia and Australia - and now they are being dared to take that rivalry to the sea when the inaugural race starts in August, 2014.

Citizens of each region and every city of Western Australia are being offered the opportunity to apply, train for selection to join their region's boat as cr. It is bound to stir up much rivalry and pride as the regions go head-to-head in a major national sporting event.

Ocean Events is also encouraging other regions and cities of Australia to join Western Australia to create a state versus state and city versus city competition.

Ocean Events has appointed Boulder Creek International as the event international media distributor and already major international broadcasters such CNBC/Europe are on board to cover the event, which is planning on producing 10,000 minutes of film for international distribution.

The Ocean Race Around Australia is the longest coastal yacht race in the world and will also be one of the most challenging with interested parties and enquiries already flooding in.

For all enquiries please contact the event Director Bob Williams at +61 413057559 and admin@ayc.net.au
