North Sails Optimist sailors dominate major championships in 2013

by North Sails on 29 Aug 2013 In 2013, North Sails junior sailors geared up with the latest North Sails proven designs have powered through to achieve some amazing results at this years major Optimist championships. We are very proud of them all and want to highlight their achievements!

2013 North Sails Junior Optimist sailors results so far:

1st NSW Open State Champion Max Paul (Czero5)
1st VIC Open State Champion James Grogan (Czero5)
1st QLD Open State Champion Max Quirk (Czero5)
1st SA Open State Champion Alex Higgins (P4)

1st NSW Open First Girl Ashleigh Coles (Dzero6)
1st SA Open First Girl Chelsea Higgins (P4)
1st VIC Open First Girl Ashleigh Coles (Dzero6)
1st QLD Open First Girl Ashleigh Coles (Dzero5)

A special mention must be made to Ashleigh Coles who has had an outstanding performance so far this year placing first girl in three different states. She has recently returned from the European championships and will certainly be one to watch at the Nationals this year in Mornington.

Max Paul and Alex Higgins have both been training hard during the off season and will be hot competitors for the summer events as well.

James Grogan and Max Quirk who formed part of Australia’s Worlds Team this year had an amazing experience at the event in Lake Garda and have now moved out of the Optimist to pursue their next sailing campaigns in 420’s and windsurfing.

Dave O’Connor from North Sails Australia who is also Australia’s Worlds Team coach is really excited for the 2014 season and will be attending all the main Optimist events this year including the nationals providing both on and off the water support for all the sailors geared up with North Sails.

The team at North Sails has also been testing and developing a range of different optimist designs and will soon be releasing their new range of Optimist models for 2014.
