There is a new sonsor and a new organizing team member for Golden Rock Regatta.

Nustar/Statia Terminal is sponsoring this years Golden Rock Regatta the organizers announced today. This company is the main employer on Statia. The Regatta organisation is happy with the sense of ownership that Statia Terminals is displaying and hopes that the company will be participating in the event in the near future.

Also to serve as 'breaking news' regarding the regatta, is that Alfred Koolen, a well known local and international Race Officer Judge and Sailor, has joined the organisation, possibly as measurer as well. He replaces Ian Thring who cannot accompany the Regatta this year due to business abroad. 'Alfred is a very good solicitor and the Dutch and local organizers are very pleased to have him aboard as the Race officer,' said Regatta organisers.

Now in its fourth year, this regatta has already attracted an impressive fleet of participants, the organizers announced.

So far entries are up 30%. Numerous teams from the Netherlands are flying in and they will compete on bareboats and sunfast 37. Pam Morris and her team from the US, the runner up from last year again are taking part, as are Canadian teams. Nico Cortlever with his boat NIX is entered for the first time. The two committee boats are completing the fleet.
Still forming are some other teams in Holland and Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.

The Golden Rock regatta is featured prominently on many Dutch sailing enthusiast's calendars and now growing in popularity with US based sailors and Canadian based sailors. Local sailors are also showing interest and are already looking at their schedules to take the time off to race. This regatta has also featured on the popular European TV Sailing Channel and many prominent sailing magazines and publications.

The sponsors are Statia Island Government, De Wilgen Vastgoed, Presidente, The Moorings, Windward-Adventures, Lighthart Communicatie, Bobby's Marina , Captain Olivers, Sint Rose Arcade, Nettravel Associates and Nustar/Statia Terminal.
