Maintenance - Heads

From Gerry, Mooloolabah: Did you know that pump out heads like salad dressing? About a year ago, someone told me about it, and I’ve had no trouble with the heads on the boat ever since. The vinegar kills the potential barnacles in the pipe and also removes the scale that will ultimately block the pipe, and the oil keeps the pump working smoothly. However, it’s not quite a salad dressing, they’re better put in at separate times – we do it now about once a week. Actually, we’re also putting vinegar in the electrosan head as well, but please do remember to take out the fuse that allows current to charge the water as it does not react well with vinegar.
