Kiel Sailing Week 2011 - This is very good news for the A-Cat class: it will take part in the 2011 Kiel Sailing Week; for the first time since 2001, it will once again be represented in the international section.

In recent times, especially after the America´s Cup switched over to multihull boats, the innovative A-Cat class has gained in stature and is attracting many sailors, including absolutely world class sailors like James Spithill. And so, we will have an excellent opportunity to build upon this and further promote our sailboat class at the largest sailing event in the world.

Based on its excellent reputation, the A-Cat class would like to become permanently established in the Kiel Sailing Week event. After a trial run in 2011, we are therefore already making plans to hold the German International A-Cat Class Championship at the Kiel Sailing Week in 2012.

It is equally important that we have a large field with good representation right from the start. Certainly, the drawing for 1,000 EUR in prize money among competitors sponsored by VDAC will contribute to achieving this.

In any case, the Kiel Sailing Week is now a must-do event on the regatta calendar for A-Cat sailors. Not only will sailing-related activities be highlighted from June 20 to 28, 2011,; Kiel also offers its sailors and visitors a fantastic program of side events.

As the world’s largest sailing event, with about 2,000 participating sailboats and 5,000 sailors from over 50 nations, the Kiel Sailing Week is one of the most renowned and top-level events in the world. Since 2008, the Sailing World Cup of Olympic classes has been held here every year - one of the highlights of the Kiel Sailing week, now in its 128th year. In recent years, it has also featured a number of world and European class championships.
