Sail-World.com : Green Guide for charter companies - how 'green' is yours?
Green Guide for charter companies - how 'green' is yours?

'A very blue world for charter companies'    .

If you are in the habit of using charter companies for your sailing holidays, you will want to know that they are as 'green' as you would like. The UK's Green Blue have just published a new Green Guide for charter companies, worthwhile whether you are located in the UK or not.

The Guide provides boat charter companies with a range of quick environmental wins as well as longer term initiatives to make their businesses more sustainable.

The natural elements are a key selling point for charter companies which make looking after these assets even more important for maintained growth and customer satisfaction.

Jane Swan, TGB Project Manager said 'Environmental initiatives have never been so easy to implement and we hope that our new guide will prompt more charter companies to take the first steps to being greener both on and off the water. Small changes will not only make the business more efficient but can often save costs too.'

The Guide also contains a case study on Sunsail which highlights best practice and shows other charter companies how easy good marine stewardship can be.

Jackie McLean, Sunsail’s UK Operations Manager said 'We started to look at the environmental performance of our Port Solent operation and our fleet of F40’s back in 2008 and with The Green Blue’s help we have made significant progress.'

GreenBlue - making the environment second nature -  .. .
'Our staff and skippers are now fully engaged and trained to be as environmentally responsible as possible. It gives our customers the opportunity to enhance their experience on the water and I hope, these good environmental habits will stay with them the next time they take to the water. We’re delighted to be able to share our experience within this new guide as it’s in the interest of the sector as a whole and to protect our waters.

The Green Blue is the environment initiative of the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) and the BMF (British Marine Federation). The Green Guide for Charter Companies is the latest addition to The Green Blue’s suite of handy guides
